Following are some reasons why Java should not be used to write services:

1. The webMethods Developer does not provide an Integrated Development Environment(IDE) for java. In fact, by comparison, the Developer's java editor makes Notepad look powerful.

2. Java programs cannot easily manipulate the pipeline that is used by Integration Server to pass data among services.

3. Java code is marginally more efficient than Flow code, but java programs are substantially harder to implement and maintain.
